Science as a verb

In this Episode it's me, Destin and Raz chatting about the Weyburn wind turbine, the Kalei Wilson situation in North Carolina, a terrible video by Katy Perry  and Michael Shermer's baloney detection kit. We also introduce a new segment I'm calling the Skeptical Geek, in which we talk about atheists and skeptics in comics and television. This time around it's all about Batman. You can listen >>>>>>here

Here’s the video, the noise is pretty obviously not from the wind turbine

Here’s some links to info about wind turbine syndrome

-North Carolina teen starts a secular group, but then gets bullied into giving up on it.

I can just feel the Christian love coming out in this situation.

The last news segment is about the Katy Perry video and I guess the question about whether we should be letting religious groups dictate what is allowed on television or not. It’s kind of a fluff piece but oh well.

Michael Shermer's baloney detection kit

  1. How reliable is the source?
  2. Does the source make similar claims
  3. Have the claims been verified by someone else?
  4. Does this fit with the way the world works?
  5. Has anyone tried to disprove the claim?
  6. Where does the preponderance of evidence point?
  7. Is the claimant playing by the rules of science?
  8. Is the claimant providing positive evidence?
  9. Does the new theory account for as many phenomena as the old theory?
  10. Are personal beliefs driving the claim?

Is Batman a skeptic?

JLA 066-13

This is a page from the prelude to the Obsidian Age in JLA #66 from 2002. Pretty much sums it up for me. Despite the various "divinity" powers that be, Batman remains an unbeliever of sorts. At least he did in 2002. I have yet to find out what's going on in the New 52. If you have any information or opinions on this or other topics email the page at or me personally at

Music for this episode was the song Dept of False Hope by Bad Religion from the album True North
